My prediction: Hemy Neuman guilty, no insanity

I've been listening to the Hemy Neuman trial testimony, and if I were on the jury today would mark the day I decided Neuman is guilty, no chance of insanity. Why? The security officer for GE and his testimony.

On the day of the murder, Hemy arrived at at work almost 2 hours earlier than any time within the past 30 days(only reviewed 30 days of record in court testimony)
In order to get into a GE building and use the elevator an employee's key card must be used.
The employee's card key must also be used to enter their office floor, but does not have to be used upon leaving the office or the building
The card key does have to used to reenter the GE building or floor

After the murder of Rusty Sneiderman, video shows Hemy checking out a visitors card to visit Andrea Sneideman's building (Andrea works in a different building than Hemy).
Hemy leaves her building shortly after (presumably this is when he took her laptop, Andrea was in route to hospital)
Hemy then returns to his office building, but rather than use his card key, he obtains one from the front desk as if he had forgotten his, so the original card key would not reflect his re entry to the building.

Basically what this 'insane' man was attempting to do was have his original employee card key time entry as his alibi for the killing, i.e. 'I was in the office during the time of the murder'.
Interestingly enough, had his name not shown up as renting a car on the day of the murder and returning it after, he may have had an alibi if the police did not suspect him or dig deeper.

Hemy Neuman went through great lengths to leave and enter his office building without detection. The testimony today along with wearing a disguise at the time of the murder, purchasing the gun in advance, taking target practice, and his professed love or obsession with Andrea (affair or not) points to his pre meditated, calculated murder of Rusty Sneiderman
Guilty, no insanity. Slam dunk

  • And now we know why there are not more emails:
    • GE keeps deleted emails for 30 days on their server.  Hemy was arrested Jan. 4th, more than 30 days after Rusty's murder.  The only way to access the deleted emails is if the sender or receiver kept them on their computer......All making more sense now

Andrea Sneiderman: Denial by any other name, is still denial

The murder of Rusty Sneiderman shook the foundation of our community on November 18th, 2010. The schools were on lock down, the parents notified and in a moment our sense of security disappeared. When the details of this horrific crime were revealed, our sense of security quickly returned as we began to see the crime appeared more targeted, almost like a professional hit rather than a random act of violence.

Our suspicions were confirmed when Andrea Sneiderman's boss was arrested less than two months after Rusty's death.  I remember talking with a friend about the arrest and how we hoped against hope there was no affair between the co-workers. Maybe it was a financial dispute, or maybe he was simply obsessed with Andrea.......

On Tuesday, the trial testimony began as did our opportunity to gain a clearer picture of what drove Hemy Neuman 'mad'.

Andrea Sneiderman was the first witness called, and she was mercilessly questioned about the nature of her relationship with Hemy Neuman. She offered a resolute denial, there was no affair with Mr. Neuman. And after watching/reading Andrea's testimony over the past two days, there is one thing I can say about Andrea Sneiderman..... She is definitely in denial.

Her testimony was baffling to me. It was like watching someone speaking who could not hear the answers she was giving. I'll do my best to explain what I mean below.

Andrea testified she worked for Hemy, a man who consistently made advances toward her, but who she considered essentially harmless. At one point even referring to Mr. Neuman as a 'silly boy' when it came to his behavior toward her. Andrea was the only adult working in her house, and she needed the job. She did not report Mr. Neuman's behavior she did not want to cause waves as he was her direct supervisor. Ok, Sounds reasonable so far.

After all many women are flirted with in the workplace and many do not make a federal case of it. Some women may even keep this behavior from their spouse as their own little secret, the flirting making them feel good at the time. Andrea seemed to find Hemy's crush harmless if not annoying.

She was then asked to explain some questionable emails in which Hemy said he wished Andrea was with him on his family vacation, to which she replied, ditto. And then an email in which Hemy proposed marriage.

At this point Andrea said she was becoming more uncomfortable with Hemy and beginning to distance herself from him.  She was then asked to explain why she continued to travel with Hemy when she was trying distance herself to which she explained this was a part of her job to travel on business, ok...... Somewhat plausible, that is until other witnesses were called.

Like the hotel manager who was asked to place Hemy and Andrea in adjoining rooms and not to move them
Like the bartender who served them on a SC business trip witnessing them dancing, groping, grinding and kissing.  The bartender said she assumed they were a couple, even turned her head at times because they were enjoying their moments together

I could go on with other witnesses who seemed to corroborate an affair between Hemy and Andrea, an affair she continued to deny. Even as she was presented with black and white evidence to the contrary.  Including an email in which she writes she is atoning for her betrayal of her family, a betrayal she later explained as the act of holding Hemy's hand.  Oh crap, if holding hands with someone else is the standard, turns out I've betrayed my husband a lot, but let's keep that to ourselves.

Andrea's testimony was sad to watch for manyreasons.  It was sad because it appears Andrea did have an affair with the man who would murder her husband, and that she was basically put on trial today for adultery after living through the unimaginiable death of her husband.  It was sad to know she must live with the guilt of the choices she made, the choices that eventually resulted in her husbands death (no I am not holding her responsible-Hemy did this)

But mostly I struck and saddened by her denial.
Many of you may question whether Andrea was involved in Rusty's murder because of some of her implausible explanations, even lies she gave today.  But I do not believe she was involved.  I believe she intensly believes everything she says.  She has to. because the alternative, the reality is too much to bear.

Dunwoody day care shooting | What the jury will hear  | ajc.com

Dunwoody day care shooting | What the jury will hear | ajc.com

Hemy Neuman's murder trial started this week. He stands accused of gunning down Rusty Sneiderman, married, father of two who at the time of the shooting was dropping off his son at Dunwoody Prep daycare, just blocks from our home.

It's a very tragic situation for all involved, especially for each man's children
These kids will each grow up without a father, and depending on how the facts of the case play out, Rusty's children may grow
up with a mom carrying the guilt that her actions or simply the action of being the object of Mr. Neuman's obsession caused her husband's death

My hope is Mrs. Sneiderman had nothing to do with planning the murder of her husband. And if this is the case, my hope is that she will forgive herself, moving forward for her children.
Because an affair does not equate to responsibility for Mr. Neuman's choice to murder her husband.
Is it tragic, yes. Was it a bad choice, yes. If she did have an affair, but nothing to do with her husband's murder, would she do anything to take back the act of the affair, my guess is her answer would be yes.

Big News-Obama Shifts Birth Control Position to the Same Position

BO's administration created quite the Bi-Partisan uproar when they released the final interpretation of what is included as preventative care under the Obama health care law.   Essentially, it requires health insurance plans cover all FDA approved forms of contraception, including abortion drugs such as Plan B, enraging religious leaders across the country.

Religious organizations providing health insurance to employees feel the mandate infringes on their religious liberty, (that silly thing we call the first amendment), as the government requires they do something directly conflicting with their religious beliefs.  Many groups requested BO's administration permit them a conscience exception to the avoid the mandate, but instead they were given a year to comply with it.

And so the out outrage continues.  I imagine much to BO's surprise.  After all, he was counseled by senior administrative officials who asked him to reconsider, he would not.
Some say he would not reconsider because it is an election year and he wants to please factions of his party and gain favor amongst female voters.  I disagree.

I think Obama severely underestimated the backlash such a decision would create because he fundamentally misunderstands how seriously most Americans view their faith, and how seriously religious leaders view the first amendment.

BO knew there would be an uproar, but thought it would quickly subside.  Surely the good  people of America will come to appreciate guaranteed contraception over guaranteed religious freedom.
He was wrong, and forced to act.

And act he did.....He held a news conference explaining how after debate and reflection, he agreed to compromise, shifting his position on mandated birth control, to the same position. WHAT???

In Obama's words:
'The policy also ensures that if a woman works for religious employers with objections to providing contraceptive services as part of its health plan, the religious employer will not be required to provide contraception coverage, but her insurance company will be required to offer contraceptive care free of charge,”

There's one problem with this- 'Her insurance' is provided by her employer, ipso facto these organizations continue to offer the very contraception coverage they objected to regardless of how the employee is informed of it.  i.e. no substantive change.

Only in Washington does such double speak pass as news of compromise on position.

I often wonder if politicians are required to pass political double speak 101 as the first order of business once elected?  If so, surely BO's press conference will be used as a shining example of double speak success.

And so my best guess is the uproar will continue, and it should.  Regardless of your position on contraception, (and for the record, I am pro contraception) this is about much more.  It's unfortunate that not everyone realizes it

Santorum 3 for 3

Santorum surprises everyone with a win in CO, a state where Romney had a lead in 2012 and won in 2008.
Apprently there remain those still unconvinced he is the right candidate, so the process goes on, and on. And one correction, seems I did not give Romney his due, he carried three states: NH, FL and NV. Santorum 4, Newt 1, Paul 0

MO(mentum) to Santorum...

Holy, Moly?.....Early lead for Santorum in CO! Could go 3/3
It definitely appears that way, at least today. Santorum won the MO primary and is the projected winner of the MN caucuses, CO results are not final yet.
Big night for the Sanotum campaign, but wait a minute, because things change quickly in this GOP race for the Presidential nomination.
Just ask Romney, who should have been basking in his FL victory but instead spent the day backing up his comments taken out of context about not caring about the poor.
So how long will Santorum's MO last????? We will have to wait and see but my guess is the super PAC attack ads are getting ready to be unleashed by all 'Non Santorum' groups.
So let's total state results:
Iowa-Santorum
New Hamshire-Romney
SC-Newt
FL-Romney
MO-Santorum
MN-Santorum
CO-awaiting results
By my count, it's Santorum 3, Romney 2, Newt 1, Paul 0.
So should we expect Santorum to call for Newt and Paul to drop out so he can go head to head with Romney?? Maybe in jest, but doubtful for two reasons:
1.). He has more class
2.). Thus far he has much fewer delegates than even Newt with his one win of the more populous state of SC.
So expect the battle to go on, at least through Super Tuesday!
But for now I say, congratulations Rick! You have run an outstanding campaign so far, remaining positive, focussing on the issues that are so very important to each of us.
I for one am tired of talking about how rich and removed Romney is, how many times Newt has been married or used his experience as the Speaker to consult with clients. I want to know each candidates plan for the economy, for decreasing our national debt and dependence on foreign oil, and am hopeful the remaining candidates will take your lead, focusing on solving the problems we currently face and making Obama a one term President!

Anyone Else Cringe Watching Madonna's Super Bowl Halftime Show?

Or was it just me?

It was 1983, I was thirteen years old and Holiday was being played on every radio station. Teenage girls everywhere were wearing lace, leggings, ripped jeans and dreaming of capturing a scintilla of Madonna's coolness!
She was IT!! She was 25, and the biggest star around!

As years passed, Madonna continued to push the envelope. She became more provacative and daring as she strived to remain relevant in the music industry.

Fast forward to 2012, and the Super Bowl 46 halftime show. The IT girl from the 80's and 90's will be the halftime entertainment to the largest television audience in the world. Surprisingly, it is Madonna's first Super Bowl appearance, but I imagine this likely because network execs feared what the super star would do (read Janet Jackson's nipple) Or maybe she was asked, and turned it down because she thought it was too commercial for her, or that she was too big for the Super Bowl! (gasp! No one is bigger than the Super Bowl!) Regardless the halftime show was about to begin.......

Having seen Madonna in concert a few times, I know she knows how to put on a show. She's a skilled entertainer and we expected quite a performance. With the first half analysis complete, and commercials sufficiently critiqued, we took our seats and prepared to be entertained. But instead, so began the cringe....sigh

The only word I can use to explain my reaction to Madonna's performance was unease. I found myself wanting to like her performance, even pretending to like it for a minute or so. But really I just felt uncomfortable and nervous for her. She looked unsure and moved around the stage slowly, gingerly, showing none of the confidence of years past. I was sad. But why was I sad, she's 53 after all!!!
I felt like I witnessed the coolness factor Madonna was able to maintain over the years, the very same coolness factor so many others have tried and failed to achieve and yet seemingly came so easily for her, was disappearing right before my eyes.
but hey, it's such a small audience(111Million)maybe no one noticed
I guess the unease I felt during the show, and the sort of willing myself to enjoy it reminds me that we all have our time and our place, our glory days. Days we should enjoy in the moment, look back on fondly, and let go of when appropriate. Rather than holding on to them tightly, passing them willingly to the next generation with dignity allowing us to maintain the coolness factor, if only within our mind!

It's Romney! At least for now.....

Romney wins big in Florida! Somewhat of a surprise, given the surge and SC win of the latest NON Romney-Newt Gingrich.

So is this a good thing?

Yes and No, I think??

Yes, in that there is a possibility people are beginning to coalesce (nice use of a big word) behind one candidate so we may begin the business of defeating Obama.  An no, in that there continues to be something GOP voters question in Mitt Romney.

To the conservatives in this group, I say- then put your support behind Santorum.  Help him mount a real challenge to Mitt Romney.  He's the only consistent conservative in the race.

To the remainder, my gut tells me you may be among those who bought BO's hope and change, I'm a center type of candidate and have been in 'shock and awe' over his actual governing as a liberal.

So what is it the voters are so unsure of?  Mitt's record as Governor for one. He was the Governor of a blue state and did/said things that are completely different then he is doing/saying now.   Hence the unease.  I believe we all want a candidate who has convictions, and who is prepared to make tough decisions to turn the country in the right direction, as painful as those decisions may be politically.  Can anyone say Chris Christie!  Oh how I wish he had run, but guess what.  He has convictions and principle-he honored his commitment to NJ.  How would that look if had bailed on NJ to enter the  presidential race.  (it would look a lot like Obama as a Senator for about 2 years prior to running for president) but as I said, Christie has principle.

So it's understandable that voters are uneasy of putting into office another candidate who is saying one thing now to be electable and yet those very things contradict his past actions.

Do not misunderstand, I'm not a Romney hater.  I actually kind of like the guy.  And I'm not saying Romney can't change his position, of course he can. I believe maturity tends to change your perspective on many items. (ask any of my college friends, I was a total liberal then.  And now, well let's just say I'm saying/doing things a lot differently than I did then).  And quite frankly the economy is the most important issue facing us, and I quite like Romney's past actions in this area.

So what to do, what to do.

Become familiar with each candidates ideas for America. I've even made it easy for you, each candidate's link is on the right side of my blog.

You don't have to look at every issue, look at the issues important to you or if you don't know what is important to you, look at these. Economy, energy, taxes and foreign policy.

What I think you will find is there is VERY little difference in each of the remaining GOP candidates' positions on these very important issues, and yet there is a VERY drastic difference in their positions and those of BO's.  So pick a candidate, support him in the primary and if he loses, support the winner in the election.  Because I am not sure I can handle the stench of another 4 years of BO.
